Following the capture of four suspected ISIS terrorists at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA), the security protocols at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad have been strengthened.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) first qualifier between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is scheduled to take place at the stadium on Tuesday. A large crowd is expected to attend the thriller game. Officials said that the Ahmedabad Police have taken measures to increase security and ensure the safety of everyone.
The stadium’s premises will maintain a significant security presence, according to authorities.
More than 3,000 personnel, including five Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCP) and 10 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP), will be on duty, based on the information released by the police on the deployment. Additionally, there will be about 800 private security personnel on the venue’s premises.
A police convoy will also be positioned at the stadium in order to avoid any errors during the game.
The four suspected ISIS terrorists who were apprehended at SVPIA on Monday are the reason for the heightened security measures. The individuals, who were identified as Sri Lankan nationals, were arrested before they could carry out any plans during the current IPL season, according to officials. The suspects had travelled from Sri Lanka to Chennai and then to Ahmedabad.
In order to ensure the safety of the players and spectators at today’s game, officials added that the arrest of these individuals has led to increased security and increased vigilance.
