A music teacher at the Balachadi Sainik school near Jamnagar was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting two 12-year-old male students. The arrest was made after the school principal filed a complaint with the Jodiya police station.
The 39-year-old teacher, a native of Jodhpur, was hired by the school on an outsourced basis as a band master. He was booked under IPC sections 504, 506(2), and Section 8 of the POCSO Act, 2012, following the principal, Shreyash Mehta’s complaint.
According to police sources, Pavan Dangi had been working with the school for the past 15 days and was provided with accommodation on campus. He called the boys to his room and assaulted them. The police are investigating the matter.
Students threatened
Dangi had threatened the boys with harm if they resisted or revealed the incident to anyone. The sexual assaults reportedly took place between May 9 and 12.
When the two children couldn’t take any more of the physical abuse, they shared their ordeal with their parents and staff members. The boys, studying in class 7, reported to the principal that the teacher had inappropriately touched them.
The principal conducted an internal investigation and found the allegations genuine after which he registered the complaint with the police.
Balachadi Sainik School is a leading school in the chain of Sainik Schools, established in 1961 by Lal Bahadur Shastri. The school’s prime focus is strengthening the armed forces and civil services.
