It was the 2007 iconic romance ‘Jab We Met’, starring Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan, that made filmmaker Imtiaz Ali a household name. In a recent media interview, Ali revealed how the pair broke up two days before the shoot was about to get completed.
Most of the film was shot. There were two days after their break-up that had to be shot. They were absolutely professional. They did not show any feelings, whatever was happening in their personal lives. At that time, both actors were not doing too well professionally, said Ali.
The filmmaker is currently enjoying the success of his film ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ that’s currently streaming on Netflix.
He said such ups and downs keep happening in the lives of filmmakers and actors.
‘Jab We Met’ is a cult classic that is loved by fans even today, 16 years after release. Directed by Imtiaz Ali, the film has comedy, emotions and great music. Shahid Kapoor as Aditya Kashyap and Kareena Kapoor as lively Geet, won hearts with their acting and chemistry.
Kareena Kapoor has shared some titbits about working in the film. She revealed that she was not sure about taking up the role of Geet in ‘Jab We Met’. She added that she was without work at that point as she was rejecting big films. She was not getting the kind of film that she wanted. She even planned on taking a sabbatical for over a year, the actress has said. Imtiaz called up Shahid and narrated the film. They did not know much about him as he had just made ‘Socha Na Tha’, she added.
