Actress Parineeti Chopra married Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Punjab, Raghav Chadha, last year. Parineeti, who is in the spotlight for her film ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ which is streaming on an OTT platform, said she’s not interested in politics, just like he’s not into movies.
However, says the actress she has to follow politics now since she is married to a politician. But her complaint is that Raghav doesn’t follow entertainment. Apparently, he knows nothing about films. He knows a little about music but he would not know if it is a film song, says Parineeti with a laugh.
She has to continuously nudge and ask him to pretend that he does know something about films. It’s sweet, she says. Since she doesn’t know anything about politics and he doesn’t know anything about entertainment, their conversations are about life. That’s perfect for me, adds the actress.
Sense of normalcy
Raghav has made her life feel normal and she always wanted normalcy in her life. She also gushes that she is married to the most wonderful man.
Parineeti says initially she didn’t even know that Raghav was such a big politician. The first time she met him, she had no idea who he was. The people who follow politics and know him used to get excited about her marrying such a well-known politician. But she would be cool.
But now that she knows him and his work, she finds him one of the most impressive people she’s met. To be the youngest Member of Parliament at 35 and to be part of this party and do the work he’s doing is amazing, she feels.
Parineeti says it’s nice to be married to someone who’s not from the industry. She says she is too much of a “Sufi soul” and has a rich life outside the film industry. If her husband had also been from the film industry, she would have gone mad, she exclaims.
