Actress Kangana Ranaut, who is BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi, said on Thursday that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was a victim of an ambitious mother, referring to Sonia Gandhi.
Ranaut said that both Rahul Gandhi and his sister Priyanka were forced into politics by Sonia Gandhi. She referred to the film ‘3 Idiots’, where children become victims of their parents’ expectations. The situation is similar with Rahul Gandhi, she said. Both Rahul and Priyanka should be allowed to lead their own lives, she said.
Though he is above 50 years old, Rahul Gandhi is continuously being “relaunched” as a youth leader, said Ranaut. She added that she felt Rahul was very lonely. Neither had he settled down in political life nor personal life. He should have tried his hand at acting. He might have been successful, said the ‘Queen’ actor turned politician.
Sonia Gandhi was among the richest women in the world. So, there was no lack of wealth in the family. There are rumours that Rahul was romantically involved but he has not got married yet, said Ranaut.
‘Natural alignment with BJP’
Calling Congress a “ghotalebaazo ki party”, Kangana said she had a “natural alignment” with the BJP. She also said she admired Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
She said she had been in the film industry for 20 years and had led a lavish life. Now, she saw herself as a BJP candidate out to serve the people, she said.
The actress said she was pained by the now-deleted controversial post on her by Congress leader Supriya Shrinate. Women are told to cover themselves and dress properly. Unfortunately, women are sexualised, she said.
A post denigrating Kangana and her constituency Mandi was posted from the Instagram handle of Shrinate, triggering a massive controversy. Later, Shrinate claimed that the comment was not posted by her but by somebody who had access to her accounts.
