Ajay Devgn is set to reunite with Luv Ranjan and Bhushan Kumar for the sequel to their 2019 romantic comedy, ‘De De Pyaar De’. The sequel, which will pick up where ‘De De Pyaar De’ left off, offers a quirky perspective on relationships. The first part focused on Ashish’s (Ajay Devgn) family accepting his relationship with 26-year-old Ayesha Khurana (Rakul Preet Singh), while the sequel will explore Ayesha’s family’s reaction to her relationship with a 50-year-old.
‘De De Pyaar De 2’ is slated for release on 1 May 2025, coinciding with the Maharashtra holiday and Labour Day. This four-day long weekend is an ideal time for a film like ‘De De Pyaar De 2’, a family entertainer that appeals to audiences of all age groups. The film aims to capitalise on the summer holidays, a time when families often flock to the cinema.
Filming for ‘De De Pyaar De 2’ will begin in June 2024, once Ajay Devgn has finished shooting for ‘Singham Again’ and ‘Raid 2’. The film, a romantic comedy with a strong emphasis on music, will have a similar tone to the first part. Ajay Devgn is reportedly excited to return to this genre. ‘DDPD 2’ is written by Tarun Jain and Luv Ranjan and will be produced by T Series with Luv Films.
Ajay Devgn, currently celebrating the success of ‘Shaitaan’, is one of the most reliable actors today, with his film franchises across various genres achieving significant commercial success. Following the ‘Singham’ franchise, ‘Golmaal’ franchise and ‘Drishyam’ franchise, ‘De De Pyaar De’ is also on its way to becoming a franchise, much to the team’s delight. In addition to these films, Ajay also has ‘Dhamaal 4’ and ‘Son of Sardaar 2’ in the pipeline.
