Tamil Nadu: A remarkable auction took place where a single lemon was sold for a staggering ₹35,000, in a private temple situated near a village, as reported by the temple authorities.
Following tradition, items such as lemons and fruits offered to Lord Shiva during the Mahasivaratri festivities were auctioned off at the Pazhapoosaian temple near Sivagiri village, located 35 km away.
Fifteen devotees participated in the auction, with a lemon eventually being purchased by a devotee from Erode for the hefty sum of ₹35,000, as confirmed by the temple authorities.
During the auction, the temple priest presented the lemon before the deity and conducted a brief pooja. Subsequently, the lemon was returned to the highest bidder in the presence of numerous devotees.
It is widely believed that the individual who secures the highest bid and acquires the lemon will be blessed with wealth and good health for many years to come.
