Ahmedabad: After facing several hurdles and delays, the new railway under bridge at Paldi is finally ready to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on March 4. The under bridge, which connects Paldi char rasta to Gujarat College – Law Garden, is a crucial link for the commuters in the area. It also serves as an access point for the Paldi Metro station, which is located right next to the under bridge.
The under bridge project, which cost around Rs 72 crores, was originally conceived as a replacement for a level crossing. However, the design had to be modified to accommodate the Metro rail line, which passes over the Botad – Ahmedabad railway line. The under bridge spans 450 meters and has two traffic lanes in each direction. It also has entry and exit points for the Paldi Metro station, which will enhance the convenience and safety of the Metro passengers.
The construction of the under bridge involved some innovative techniques, such as micro-tunnelling and soil nailing, to ensure soil stability and prevent waterlogging. The under bridge is expected to reduce traffic congestion and improve the transportation network in the area. It is a significant infrastructure project that will benefit the residents and visitors of Paldi.
