Netflix has a treat for all the fans of Kapil Sharma, the actor-comedian who has entertained millions with his witty jokes and hilarious sketches. The streaming giant has announced a new show starring Kapil Sharma and his former co-star Sunil Grover, who is also a popular comedian and actor. The show is called The Great Indian Kapil Show, which is a clever reference to two of Kapil Sharma’s previous comedy shows—The Great Indian Laughter Challenge and The Kapil Sharma Show.
The Great Indian Kapil Show will premiere on March 30 at 8 PM and will feature Kapil Sharma, Sunil Grover, Archana Puran Singh, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda and Rajeev Thakur. The show will have the cast members trying to come up with creative ways to announce the name of the show to the audience.
In a teaser video released by Netflix, Kapil Sharma says, “I want to announce the name of the show in such a way that it sets fire [I want to make a big splash with the name announcement].” Archana Puran Singh suggests, “I have an idea, we can reveal the name on Time Square, Burj Khalifa, and Big Ben [I think we should announce the name on these famous landmarks].” Krushna Abhishek interrupts her and says, “This is an Indian show. We should do it on Gateway Of India [We should use an Indian landmark].”
Rajeev Thakur then spoils their plans by saying, “We can’t go there either [We don’t have the budget for that].” When everyone asks why, Rajeev reveals, “Because of [Sunil] Grover brother’s arrival, the budget has reduced [We spent all our money on bringing back Sunil Grover].” Sunil Grover then makes his entry and joins the conversation. Kiku Sharda proposes “skywriting”, but Sunil Grover says they should avoid the plane, hinting at Kapil Sharma’s infamous mid-air brawl.
The laughter doesn’t stop there, as Krushna Abhishek comes up with another idea. He says, “Why don’t we use star kids [Why don’t we get some celebrity kids to announce the name].” Kapil Sharma points at his own children and says, “No no, my kids are too young [They can’t do it].” Krushna clarifies that he meant his own nephews, as he is the son of Bollywood actor Govinda’s sister Padma. But his idea also gets rejected by the rest of the cast. The video ends with two men bringing a banner that says, “The Great Indian Kapil Show.”
Netflix captioned the video, “Your home’s path goes through laughter. The Great Indian Kapil Show arrives at 8 PM every Saturday from 30 March, only on Netflix [You will laugh your way home with this show].” In other news, Kapil Sharma is waiting for the release of his next film Crew, where he will share the screen with Kareena Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Tabu. Sunil Grover was last seen in Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, which released last year.
