It was ‘love knew no boundaries’ for a Gujarati couple, and literally so. They exchanged wedding vows in snowy mountains in Himachal Pradesh’s Spiti Valley.
In a few days from now, the Indian and English cricket teams will play a Test match in Dharamshala. There are talks about how they would struggle to cope with Himachal Pradesh’s chilly climes. Perhaps they could turn to this couple for advice.
Expectedly, a video of their wedding has gone viral.
Sharing the video on X, Ajay Banyal, an Assistant Public Relations Officer in the Himachal Pradesh Government, wrote in Hindi, which translates into: “A union such as this as well! A loving couple from Gujarat travelled to Spiti and decorated the mandap at -25 degrees, thanks to the girlfriend’s perseverance. This is an unprecedented instance. A special marriage happened in Moorang, Spiti, today. An illustration of a destination wedding.”
The clip starts with a videographer capturing the bride in Spiti’s bitter cold. In her wedding gown, the bride is seen posing in a car decorated with flowers. The couple envelops each other in a huge. People are watching the marriage take place against the captivating backdrop of snow-capped mountains.
The video has gained traction on Instagram too. The couple hands each other a pair of gloves to cope with the frigid air. They show their award for the ‘Longest Road Trip Wedding Expedition’. After the wedding, the bride drives the car on a snow-laden road and leaves with the groom.
According to reports, one video attracted over 24,000 views, the other has received more than 8,000 views.
“My dream is to get married in Spiti,” wrote an X user.
Another user wasn’t convinced. “They are destroying the natural beauty of mountains. Unnecessary rush and pollution just for the sake of Reels,” a post read.
One user commented, “Sister had to recreate the Switzerland wedding in India.”
Said another, “I have seen a destination wedding on the beach. This is the first I have seen in the snow.”
