Ahmedabad witnessed a 10% rise in visa applications last year compared to 2022, which suggests that more students and tourists are going overseas. VFS Global’s statistics shows that the city’s increase in visa applications for 2019 exceeded pre-Covid levels by 32%.
According to a report in The Times of India, the demand pattern in the city was consistent with the pan-India growth curve which saw a 16% year-on-year increase in 2023.
China, Canada, Germany, Japan, France, Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Italy, UK and the US were Indians’ preferred destinations.
“We continued to see high demand from India and the entire South Asia region in 2022, which led to an extended peak outbound travel season with steady volumes witnessed throughout the year,” Sharad Gowani, Head, West, VFS Global, told the daily.
The firm says demand for visa at your doorstep (VYAD) increased among customers to the extent that there was a fivefold increase in 2023 against 2019.
