Suhani Bhatnagar, the actor who portrayed young Babita Kumari Phogat in the blockbuster film ‘Dangal’, passed away on February 17 in Delhi. She was 19 years old. According to reports, she had a leg fracture and the medication she took for it caused a side effect. Her body started to accumulate fluid, which led to her demise. The cause of her death is yet to be officially confirmed.
Aamir Khan’s production house, which produced ‘Dangal’, confirmed her death on Instagram. They posted a note that read, “We are deeply saddened to hear about our Suhani passing away. Our heartfelt condolences to her mother Poojaji, and the entire family. Such a talented young girl, such a team player, Dangal would have been incomplete without Suhani.”
Suhani was admitted to AIIMS hospital in Delhi for a long time for treatment. Her funeral will be held on Saturday.
Suhani rose to fame after playing young Babita Kumari Phogat, the daughter of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, in the 2016 film ‘Dangal’. She acted alongside Aamir Khan, Sakshi Tanwar, and Zaira Wasim. She also appeared in some advertisements.
Suhani had taken a break from acting to concentrate on her studies. She was not active on social media. Her last post was in November 2021.
