Ahmedabad, India: India announced a 17-member squad for the remaining three Tests against England, aiming to break the series deadlock and secure crucial World Test Championship points. However, the team faces a double blow with star batsman Virat Kohli remaining unavailable due to personal reasons, while all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and opener KL Rahul are doubtful due to injuries.
Jadeja suffered a hamstring injury during the first Test, while Rahul experienced quadriceps pain. Their participation hinges on fitness clearance from the medical team.
The squad sees young talent Akash Deep earn his maiden Test call-up as a fast bowler, while batsman Shreyas Iyer misses out. Opener Mayank Agarwal was also not included.
The series is currently tied 1-1 after the first two Tests. The third match starts on February 15th in Rajkot, followed by Ranchi (February 23rd) and Dharamsala (March 7th) for the finale.
