In a heart-wrenching incident in Bhimora village of Upleta taluka, Rajkot district, a 22-year-old woman, Manisha alias Sumi Makwana, allegedly took her own life by consuming acid, and shockingly, she also forced the corrosive substance down the throat of her nine-month-old daughter, Dharmi. The distressing event unfolded as Manisha’s husband, Jaga, received a call from her on Sunday noon, revealing that she had ingested poison and urgently requesting him to return home. Upon reaching their residence with his mother and brother, Jaga discovered Manisha vomiting profusely, while his daughter was in the grip of convulsions.
Despite efforts to save them, Manisha tragically succumbed in a nearby private hospital, leaving behind her daughter, Dharmi, who is currently battling for her life at the state-run K T Children Hospital in Rajkot. According to statements given to the Patanvav police station, Jaga mentioned that Manisha exhibited a short-tempered and stubborn nature. Investigations are ongoing, with officer KM Chavda revealing that statements from Manisha’s husband and mother have been recorded. Jaga conveyed that Manisha had conversed with her mother before ingesting the acid, but nothing unusual was noted during their discussion, adding a layer of complexity to this heartbreaking incident.
