Ahmedabad: As the nation gears up to celebrate the 75th Republic Day tomorrow, five IPS officers from Gujarat have made the state proud by being selected for the prestigious President’s Medal. The medal is awarded every year by the President of India for outstanding performance in various categories of service.
The five IPS officers who will receive the medal are Rajiv Ranjan Bhagat, Maninder Pratap Singh Pawar, Premveer Singh, Narendra Chaudhary and Raghavendra Vats. They belong to different batches and cadres, but have one thing in common: their dedication and excellence in their respective fields.
Rajiv Ranjan Bhagat: He is an IPS officer of the 1998 batch and is currently serving as Inspector General (IG) in the Special Protection Group (SPG), which provides security to the Prime Minister and other VVIPs. He was born on 1 April 1968 in Bihar and has a Master’s degree in History. He has served in various capacities in Gujarat, including as SP of Gandhinagar, Surat and Vadodara, and as DIG of CID (Crime).
Maninder Pratap Singh Pawar: He is an IPS officer of the 2005 batch and is currently serving as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the Border Security Force (BSF), which guards the international borders of India. He was born on 12 May 1978 in Punjab and has a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering and a Diploma in Police Management. He has served in various districts of Gujarat, including as SP of Banaskantha, Patan and Rajkot, and as DIG of Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).
Premveer Singh: He is an IPS officer of the 2005 batch and is currently serving as IG of Ahmedabad Range, which comprises of seven districts. He was born on 1 June 1974 in Uttar Pradesh and has a Master’s degree in Mathematics. He has served in various positions in Gujarat, including as the in-charge Police Commissioner of Ahmedabad and as Joint Commissioner of Police in Ahmedabad Crime Branch.
Narendra Chaudhary: He is an IPS officer of the 2006 batch and is currently serving as Additional Commissioner of Police in Ahmedabad Traffic Department, which is responsible for managing the traffic in the city. He was born on 18 February 1968 in a rural area of Surat and has a Bachelor’s degree in Arts. He has served in various places in Gujarat, including as SP of Sabarkantha, Junagadh and Bharuch, and as DIG of Surat Range.
Raghavendra Vats: He is an IPS officer of the 2005 batch and is currently on deputation to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), which is the largest paramilitary force in India. He was born on 16 September 1978 in Uttar Pradesh and has a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Technology and a Master’s degree in Police Management. He has served in various roles in Gujarat, including as SP of Kheda, Anand and Ahmedabad Rural, and as DIG of Gandhinagar Range.
The five IPS officers will be honoured with the President’s Medal at a ceremony in New Delhi tomorrow. They have brought laurels to the state and the country by their exemplary service and achievements. They are an inspiration for the young generation and a source of pride for the people of Gujarat.
