Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone’s Fighter hit the screens on Thursday, a day before the nation celebrates its 75th Republic Day. The film, directed by Siddharth Anand, has received rave reviews from critics and fans alike, who have praised the film’s thrilling aerial action, patriotic fervour and sizzling chemistry between the lead pair.
Fighter is about an elite Indian Air Force (IAF) unit, Air Dragons, led by Hrithik’s Squadron Leader Shamsher and Deepika’s Squadron Leader Minal Rathore. They are joined by Anil Kapoor as Group Captain Rakesh Jai Singh, their mentor and commander. The film also features Karan Singh Grover, Akshay Oberoi, Sanjeeda Sheikh and Ashutosh Rana in supporting roles.
The film showcases the bravery and valour of the IAF pilots, who fly real Sukhois, Indian fighter jets, and perform breathtaking aerial stunts. The film’s teaser, which was released in December 2023, had created a buzz with its patriotic theme and catchy tune of Sujlam Suflam, the state song of Gujarat. The film’s trailer, which was unveiled 10 days ago, had further raised the expectations of the audience with its spectacular visuals and action sequences.
The film has already sold 1.8 lakh tickets in advance for the Republic Day holiday, indicating a huge demand for the film. The film is expected to set the box office on fire and become one of the biggest hits of the year.
