A gang from Uttar Pradesh had planned to rob a big jewellery showroom in Ahmedabad city within a few days, but the police got wind of their plan and thwarted it. The Ahmedabad Crime Branch arrested 6 members of the UP gang with weapons before they could strike at any big jewellery showroom.
The Crime Branch nabbed 6 people of the UP gang who were planning to loot jewellery showrooms in Gujarat before any major robbery or dacoity could take place in the city. The police got a tip-off and on January 7, they caught 6 people from the footpath near the Paladi Museum AMTS bus stand. The arrested people are originally from UP and they had come to Gujarat with the intention of robbing jewellery showrooms. But before they could execute their plan, the Ahmedabad Crime Branch team caught them.
Who are the members of this gang? The 6 people arrested by the Ahmedabad Crime Branch run their own gang in UP and have been involved in various crimes and have been arrested by the police several times. The police arrested Sahidali Pathan, Rajendrasingh Jatav, Lekhraj Roshansingh Bihari Yadav, Satyaram alias Vidayak Yadav, Lekhraj Sonpal Yadav and Ravi Fakir. The police seized 3 country-made pistols, 18 live cartridges, 3 mobile phones, 2 knives, one cutter, 2 screw drivers and cash worth more than Rs 74,000 from them.
The arrested people have been booked for various crimes in UP. They have been involved in murder, loot, illegal arms trafficking, gangster act and many other offences and have been booked for more than 100 crimes in UP.
Why did they come to Gujarat? The notorious accused were identified by the local police in UP and they could not commit any crime in UP. They needed money and so they chose Gujarat and especially Ahmedabad. They came to Ahmedabad city three days ago and stayed here and did a recce of the jewellery showrooms on CG Road and Shivarajani area. They had made a plan to rob a big showroom with weapons but before they could prepare for the robbery, the Ahmedabad Crime Branch team arrested them.
The police said that in the preliminary interrogation, the accused said that they had come to Gujarat for the first time, but the Crime Branch is further investigating whether any of them had committed any crime in Ahmedabad or Gujarat before and what was their actual plan and whether any local person was involved with the gang.
