Ahmedabad’s beloved Vastrapur Lake, which suffered damage during last year’s monsoon, is finally set to receive a much-needed makeover. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has proposed a Rs 5.15 crore budget to repair and renovate the lake, bringing it back to its former glory.
The proposal, which will be discussed by the water and sewerage committee on December 4th, aims to address the damage caused by heavy rainfall. This includes the walkway in the lower promenade, which has developed large potholes, and the lake wall, which sustained damage at five different spots. Additionally, the proposal seeks to address the issue of damaged gates, railings, and a severe infestation of rats and other rodents.
Beyond repairs, the project also aims to restore previously installed features that have fallen into disuse. This includes four fountains and an amusement park, both of which were originally implemented by the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (Auda) in 2003.
If approved by the committee, the project will not only revitalize the lake infrastructure but also enhance the recreational experience for visitors. This will be a welcome development for residents and tourists alike who cherish the tranquil beauty of Vastrapur Lake.
