A youth in Gujarat’s Junagadh collapsed and died while performing Garba. The 24-year-old, identified as Chirag Parmar, was rushed to the hospital after the incident, but was declared brought dead by the doctors there.
The postmortem report confirmed that he died of a heart attack while practising the traditional dance form.
The Junagadh resident had been winning Garba competitions during Navratri for the last 10 years. He was preparing to win the competition this year as well, when he suddenly collapsed and died.
“My brother had gone to practise garba at around 8 pm last night, but became dizzy and fell during the dance. His friends tried to save him and even reached the hospital, but the doctors declared him dead and the post-mortem report showed that he died of a heart attack,” said Mukund Parmar, Chirag’s brother.
Meanwhile, Chirag’s Dandiya class director Mahendra Bhai Gosai said that he had been practising the dance form for the past month in order to win a competition this year as well.
“Yesterday, he suddenly collapsed. We are all sad because of his demise,” he said.
