This year’s G20 summit has demonstrated the continued ability of the group to address its most urgent challenges, according to US President Joe Biden. On Sunday, President Joe Biden lauded the G20 Summit of this year as solution-focused, emphasising its showcase of the G20’s capacity to tackle the world’s most urgent global issues.
President Biden made this statement on Sunday as he departed for Vietnam, following his participation in the G20 summit. Earlier in the day, he and several other G20 leaders paid their respects at Mahatma Gandhi’s memorial at Rajghat.
“In a time when the global economy grapples with the concurrent challenges of the climate crisis, fragility, and conflict, this year’s summit has shown that the G20 can still generate solutions to our most pressing problems,” Biden remarked.
During his inaugural visit to India as President of the United States, Biden arrived in the national capital on Friday to attend the two-day G20 summit. On the same day, he engaged in discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Earlier on Friday, President Joe Biden pledged the United States’ support for India’s pursuit of a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). Besides, he asserted the US’s commitment to backing India’s bid for another term as a non-permanent member of the UNSC in 2028-29.
In their dialogue, Modi and Biden pledged to enhance and broaden their countries’ major defence partnership, while also applauding progress in India’s acquisition of 31 drones and the collaborative development of jet engines. Biden also actively participated in crucial sessions of the G20 Summit on Saturday.
