At the inaugural event of the 2-day All India Education Convention at Pragati Maidan, PM Narendra Modi said that even at the UN, he speaks in Indian languages.
He lamented the fact that despite the existence of several prosperous languages in India, they were represented as unprogressive. He made this point at the inaugural event of the All India Education Convention at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi, which marked the third anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The Prime Minister was speaking at the inaugural event of the 2-day All India Education Convention at Pragati Maidan. PM Modi also mentioned that people lagged despite having great talent just because they could not speak English. Especially folks from the rural belt have been greatly impacted by this notion. He also mentioned that even if he spoke in an Indian language at the UN, listeners would take some time to clap.
Among other revisions, the NEP focuses on imparting education in regional languages. The NEP also has a provision to extend education in regional languages to the higher education level.
While taking a dig at the opposition, the Prime Minister mentioned that the provision of regional languages in the NEP will specifically benefit the nation. He mentioned that those who run the business of hatred using languages will have no role to play in the future.
PM Modi was addressing the 2-day event at the Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan. This will also be the venue for the upcoming G20 leaders’ summit in September.
The convention, alternatively called the Akhil Bharatiya Siksha Samagam, is a two-day program that is being held on July 29 and 30. It will provide a platform for a wide spectrum of experts including academicians, sector experts, teachers, higher education and skilling institutions, among others, to share their views about NEP 2020 implementation and the various approaches that will take it further ahead.
