A second-year MBBS student, Devangi Mayur Patel of Gujarat Adani Institute of Medical Sciences (GAIMS) in Bhuj died by suicide in her hostel room.
The police have initiated a primary investigation by recording the statements of her classmates, friends and faculty members.
Devangi Patel resided on the first floor of the medical girls’ hostel. According to the police, during routine security rounds, Devangi’s room was found locked form within.
Classes were on at that time so a professor was called who then broke into the window after there was no response from witihn. The incident took place before 7.15 am.
Devangi was found hanging from the ceiling fan in her room. Devangi hailed from Ahmedabad and her family has been informed.
