All women in Rajasthan will be provided with free smartphones and a data plan which means free internet for three years. This unique scheme will kickstart from July 25.
Speaking at the Kisan Sammelan in Udaipur, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said distribution of smartphones to women would commence on July 25. The first phase will involve providing smartphones to 40 lakh women, along with three years of complimentary internet services. In his speech, the Rajasthan Chief Minister drew parallels with PM Narendra Modi on various welfare schemes. Narrowing down on welfare schemes for farmers, he said the Central government offered financial assistance of Rs 6000 in three instalments for farmers the Rajasthan government was determined to provide 2000 units of free electricity, the cost of which definitely crossed Rs 18,000 every year.
Dwelling upon the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers, he said the Rajasthan government was committed to ensure that farmers get a good price for their crops. Low market price should not weaken the farmers’ morale because of a predetermined MSP price.
