Even in the US, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a taste of Gujarat and literally so. In the bustling city of New York, where cultures and cuisines from around the world converge, Komal Patel gave India’s PM a memory to cherish.
New York’s Palace Hotel hosted Narendra Modi during his visit to the city on June 20. The management of the hotel ensured he was treated to authentic Gujarati delicacies.
The responsibility to prepare the choicest of Gujarati meals was given to Patel, who hails from the quaint village of Palaj in Anand district.
And so, Modi had a whiff of home as Patel, applying the best of her culinary skills, served him the choicest of Gujarati dishes on June 20 and 21.
For sure, she was rewarded. Patel enjoyed the privilege of engaging in a casual conversation with India’s PM. Filled with gratitude, she thanked him for the opportunity to serve the kind of meal he relishes. Not just that, a photo session was held, capturing the joyous moments shared among the members of her family, the Indian PM and her. A frame that could well be in Patel’s living room.
