According to the US Coast Guard, a Canadian aircraft has discovered underwater noises while looking for a submersible that disappeared while transporting five people to the Titanic disaster.
The search has been moved because of the noises that the Canadian P-3 aircraft heard. These searches have turned up nothing, but they are still going on. Even under the best of circumstances, the vessel could run out of oxygen by Thursday morning, so rescuers have been working against the clock.
An underwater robot had begun searching near the Titanic in addition to an international fleet of ships and aircraft, and there was a drive to get recovery equipment to the area in case the sub was discovered.
According to a US Air Mobility Command official, three C-17 transport aircraft from the US military were employed to transfer a commercial submersible and related equipment from Buffalo, New York, to St. John’s, Newfoundland, to help with the search. The Canadian military claimed to have sent two surface ships, one of which specialised in diving medical, and a patrol aircraft.
