In an action-packed match held at the crowded Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium, the Delhi Panzers bounced back to claim victory, defeating Garvit Gujarat by a score of 41-35 in the Premier Handball League on Sunday.
Led by the impressive Bhupender Ghanghas, the Delhi Panzers showcased their attacking prowess, leaving Gujarat with yet another defeat to their name.
Right from the start, the Delhi Panzers displayed a swift and dominant performance. Captain Deepak Ahlawat, Bhupender Ghanghas, and Ashok Nain propelled their team to an early lead. However, Garvit Gujarat swiftly found their attacking rhythm as Tarun Thakur, Harender Singh Nain, and Mohit Ghanghas brought their team back into contention. Both teams consistently found the back of the net in the opening minutes, resulting in a closely contested game after the first 10 minutes, with Delhi leading by a narrow margin of 10-9.
Gujarat quickly closed the gap as Mohammed Shuja Ur Rehman became more involved in the game. Bhupender Ghanghas continued his impressive performance, preventing Gujarat from taking the lead. While Jasmeet Singh contributed to the Panzers’ efforts, his contributions only managed to level the scores. The first half concluded with the teams evenly matched at 17-17, as they went stride for stride in the opening period.
Gujarat started the second half with an aggressive approach, taking a narrow lead in the initial minutes, courtesy of Harender Singh and Shuja Ur Rehman. However, the Panzers swiftly regained the upper hand, thanks to their new addition, Ramesh Chandra, and the consistent performance of Bhupender Ghanghas. Remarkable saves by Rakesh Kumar, guarding the Delhi goal, helped the Panzers establish a slender lead. Despite goals from Mohit Ghanghas and Harender Singh that kept Gujarat in the game, Delhi held on to their narrow advantage.
Deepak Ahlawat, Bhupender Ghanghas, and Ashok Nain displayed excellent coordination in the attack, allowing Delhi to maintain their slim lead. At the midway point of the second half, the score stood at 28-26 in favor of the Panzers, who aimed to widen the gap further.
Dinesh Kumar and Ramesh Chandra proved to be effective for Delhi, exploiting gaps in Gujarat’s defense. On the other hand, Gujarat struggled to stem the flow of goals from Delhi’s end while finding it relatively easy to penetrate their opponent’s defenses. Bhupender Singh and Deepak Ahlawat of the Panzers found the net with almost every shot they took. Meanwhile, a sense of urgency caused Gujarat to rush their shots, resulting in conversion difficulties.
Entering the final five minutes of the game, Delhi had established a significant lead, with the score standing at 36-31 in their favour. As the game concluded, the Delhi Panzers emerged victorious with a final score of 41-35.
Bhupender Ghanghas emerged as the top scorer for the Panzers, amassing an impressive 12 goals. On the other hand, Amit Ghanghas led the scoring for Garvit Gujarat with 8 goals. Bhupender Ghanghas was rightfully recognized as the most valuable player of the match due to his outstanding attacking performance.
In a separate thrilling encounter, the Telugu Talons narrowly defeated the Golden Eagles Uttar Pradesh by a single point with a score of 26-25. The match witnessed an exciting finish, with the outcome hanging in the balance until the dying minutes of the game.
Davinder Singh Bhullar and Naseeb Singh propelled the Telugu Talons to a quick start, enabling them to secure an early lead. However, the Golden Eagles swiftly fought back, with Jyotiram Bhushan Shinde and Sukhveer Singh Brar levelling the scores. The Golden Eagles appeared poised to establish a lead, but Rahul TK, guarding the Talons’ goal, made remarkable saves to prevent his team from falling behind. Mohit Kumar also played a crucial role in the Talons’ attack, contributing goals that helped them maintain their lead. At the 15-minute mark, the scores were 7-5 in favor of the Talons.
Sukhveer Singh Brar of the Golden Eagles continued to find the net while fending off the challenges posed by the Talons. Mankesh’s impactful performance from the wings further bolstered Uttar Pradesh’s lead. To regain control of the game, Fernando Nunes introduced Kailash Patel and captain Shubham Sheoran into the Talons’ lineup. The Talons successfully equalized, resulting in a 14-14 scoreline at the end of the first period, with both teams showcasing excellent attacking play.
The Talons began the second half determined to seize the lead, while the Golden Eagles had the same objective. Davinder Singh Bhullar opened the scoring for the Talons in the second half, and Kailash Patel delivered a masterful performance from the wings, assisting Telugu in establishing an early lead.
Sukhveer Singh Brar emerged as the top scorer for the Golden Eagles Uttar Pradesh in the match, accumulating an impressive 9 goals. Naseeb Singh led the scoring for the Telugu Talons with 6 goals. Kailash Patel of the Talons received the well-deserved most valuable player of the match award for his crucial contributions to the team’s attack from the wing.
