As part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP’s) commemoration of nine years of governance led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to address public meetings in four states on June 10 and 11. Shah’s two-day visit will take him to Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh, where he will highlight the achievements of the Centre during his speeches.
On Saturday, the Union Home Minister kicked off his engagements by addressing gatherings in Patan, Gujarat, and will later visit Nanded in Maharashtra. Speaking to the crowd, he emphasized how Prime Minister Narendra Modi had fulfilled the aspirations of the middle class by establishing new educational institutions, offering subsidized housing, and generating numerous job opportunities. Shah asserted that the financial status of the middle class has experienced substantial growth during the nine-year tenure of the Modi government.
Officials have also indicated that Shah is expected to pay his respects at the Hazur Abchalnagar Sahib Gurudwara in Nanded later in the day.
On June 11, Shah will hold a public meeting in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, followed by another gathering in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The ruling YSR Congress in Andhra Pradesh has shown significant support to the central government on key issues thus far. Meanwhile, BJP President J P Nadda is also scheduled to address a public meeting in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, on June 10, where he will additionally offer prayers at the Tirupati Balaji temple.
Across the nation, Union ministers, Members of Parliament, and BJP leaders are conducting various programs as part of the Jan Sampark Abhiyan (People Contact Campaign). These initiatives include public meetings and interactions with intellectuals, aimed at apprising the public about the Modi government’s accomplishments for diverse segments of society, aligning with the vision of ‘Sabka, Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’ (Together with all, Development for all, Trust of all) advocated by Prime Minister Modi.

It is worth mentioning that Narendra Modi was sworn in as Prime Minister on May 26, 2014, for his first term and on May 30, 2019, for his second term. To commemorate the government’s anniversary, the saffron party has organized a month-long public outreach program spanning from May 30 to June 30. So far, at least 14 Union ministers, including Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, have visited Maharashtra to celebrate Modi’s nine years in office.
Given Maharashtra’s significance as a state with 48 Lok Sabha seats, the BJP’s top leadership is making concerted efforts to maximize electoral gains. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP secured 23 seats, while its ally Shiv Sena won 18 seats. However, with Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) as an alliance partner and the united front of the Maha Vikas Aghadi, the BJP faces a formidable challenge in achieving its ambitious target of winning 42 or more out of the 48 Lok Sabha seats.
