Chris Hemsworth, the lead actor in the Marvel film ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’, has admitted that the movie was “too silly”. Despite grossing $760 million at the box office, the fourth installment in the ‘Thor series was heavily criticized by fans for its VFX, portrayal of Thor, writing, and undercutting.
Directed by Taika Waititi, who also directed ‘Thor Ragnarok’, the movie brought back Natalie Portman as Thor’s love interest and featured Christian Bale as the main villain. However, the film failed to impress fans and received negative reviews.
During a recent interview, Hemsworth addressed the criticism and said, “We had too much fun. It had become too silly. It’s always hard being at the center of it having any real perspective. I love the ride, it’s always a ride. But you just don’t know how many people are going to respond.”
Despite the criticism, Chris Hemsworth and Portman’s performances were praised, as well as Bale’s portrayal of the villain. Hemsworth will next be seen in the sequel to ‘Extraction’, set to release on Netflix in June 2023, alongside Idris Elba.
This marks the first time a ‘Thor’ film has received negative reviews since the character’s inception in 2011.
