He went underground in 2015 after stabbing his 21-year-old wife to death. Today, Bhadresh Patel (33), who has eluded Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) officials so far, is on the list of Ten Most Wanted Fugitives in the US.
In another twist to the case, it has come to light that Patel received support from a human smuggler of Punjabi origin residing in the US to escape America. Curiously, the same facilitator had assisted alleged human smuggler Bharat Patel, known as Bobby, in illegally trafficking Gujaratis into the US.
A daily, citing sources in the local community and police, has reported that Patel joined his relatives in Ecuador. Later, he moved to Canada to seek refuge with relatives and friends. He’s believed to have distanced himself from his parents in Ahmedabad.
Further, the daily added that Patel and his wife migrated to the US in 2014 and found employment at a doughnut shop in Maryland. A source claimed that even though their visa expired in March 2015, they continued staying in the US illegally.
But there was trouble in paradise. The daily, citing information from various police departments, has reported that Patel wanted to return to India, which led to frequent fights between the couple.
