On Tuesday, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot expressed the hope that he and his political foe Sachin Pilot would cooperate and win the state’s upcoming assembly elections. He urged Congress members and leaders to exercise “patience” and wait for their chance to contribute in some way.
His comments came a day after the two prominent Rajasthani figures met with the Congress leadership in New Delhi, where the party emphasised their need for unity in order to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party in the upcoming state elections.
He expressed assurance that after they reached an agreement before the party’s high command, he and Pilot would cooperate.
When asked if he expects Pilot to collaborate with him now, Gehlot told, “If he is in the party then why won’t he do this.” The high command will determine each person’s job. The high command must assign the role; we are not responsible for doing so.
“Any position is irrelevant to me. I’ve served as the chief minister of Rajasthan three times and a central minister an equal number of times. Being a three-time chief minister and central minister is significant. The chief minister stated, “Today, it is my responsibility to carry out the high command’s request, which is to win the election.
After extensive discussions with both leaders in Rajasthan to resolve the fighting in the state unit, the Congress leadership, led by party chief Mallikarjun Kharge and former chief Rahul Gandhi, was addressing the media the following day.
Gehlot claimed that once the Congress took control of Rajasthan, he worked for the state’s citizens’ welfare. “Everyone in Rajasthan is aware. After our victory, what type of governance have we offered over the last five years, and I’ve done everything I could.
The chief minister claimed that, whether it be for farmers, young people, women, workers, SC/ST/OBC people, or minorities, he has sought to find solutions to their concerns.
“I think I’ve done well this time, and I think our government will continue. However, the people are in charge because they will make the decisions, and I think that is fine. When I interact with individuals, I notice that there is a lot of energy,” he remarked.
The BJP, according to Gehlot, may invest a significant amount of money in “spreading falsehood,” but “this time, I feel there is nothing for them to speak against our government,” he said.
In the midst of a simmering leadership conflict within the Rajasthan chapter of the Congress, the party announced on Monday that Gehlot and his erstwhile running mate Sachin Pilot have decided to campaign jointly in the upcoming assembly elections and have deferred resolution of all disputes to the party’s top leadership.
