The Maximum City’s go-to cuisine, Vada Pav, was traditionally introduced to Apple CEO Tim Cook on Monday by Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit. Cook is slated to open Apple’s first India store at BKC in Mumbai tomorrow.
Sharing a picture of the two of them enjoying what appears to be delicious food at Swati Snacks (drool!), Dixit tweeted: “Can’t think of a better welcome to Mumbai than Vada Pav’, a sentiment we wholeheartedly endorse, having gorged on both the fare at Swati and the Mumbai snack.”
Unsurprisingly, Madhuri Dixit’s tweet generated a flurry of comments. Twitter fans couldn’t help but turn a lyric from one of the actress’ most famous songs into a pun on the Apple CEO’s last name, as well as suggestions that she should take Tim Cook on a Mumbai local and information about their own favourite restaurants.
“Cook cook cook cook…,” joked several replies to Madhuri Dixit’s tweet – the song Choli Ke Peeche from her 1993 film Khal Nayak begins “Ku ku ku ku…” – as any Madhuri or Bollywood fan will know.
According to reports, Tim Cook will greet customers when Apple’s first store in India opens tomorrow in Mumbai’s BKC district. The store opening commemorates 25 years of Apple in India. On April 20, a second store will open in New Delhi. Tim Cook is also anticipated to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
