Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is slated to address a party rally on Sunday in Kolar, the same place where he made the remarks about the Modi surname, that led to his criminal defamation conviction and disqualification as a Member of Parliament.
According to state Congress sources, the former AICC president is scheduled to arrive in Bengaluru on Sunday morning and travel to Kolar, where he will speak at a ‘Jai Bharat’ rally organised by the party.
Gandhi will inaugurate the newly built “Indira Gandhi Bhavan” — an office and auditorium in Bengaluru with a capacity of 750 people — in the evening.
AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, General Secretary for Karnataka Randeep Singh Surjewala, KPCC Chief DK Shivakumar, and Legislature Party Leader and Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah are among the key Congress officials anticipated to attend the events.
Due to preparation for the elections and the process of selecting candidates, among other things, the rally was initially set for April 5, but was then moved to April 9, and then eventually on April 16.
