Chief Justice of India (CJI) D Y Chandrachud noted the growing number of COVID-19 cases in the country and stated that the Supreme Court is willing to hear lawyers via video conferencing. In response to recent media reports, a bench comprised of the CJI and Justice J B Pardiwala stated that the court is more than willing to allow lawyers to appear via hybrid mode.
As per the Union health ministry data “We can hear you through video conferencing mode also,” the CJI said. India on Wednesday recorded 4,435 new COVID-19 infections, the biggest single-day jump in 163 days (five months and 13 days), while the number of active cases increased to 23,091. Also, India’s COvid -19 fresh cases have climbed to 4.47 crore and the death toll has climbed to 5,30,916 with 15 deaths.

In a 24-hour period, four deaths were reported from Maharashtra, one each from Delhi, Chattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Puducherry, and Rajasthan, and four were reconciled by Kerala.
The increase of 4,435 new Covid cases in India is the highest in 163 days. On September 25 of last year, a total of 4,777 cases were recorded.
Following an increase in Covid-19 cases, the Union Health Ministry has advised people to be cautious. The advisory also warned against ignoring Covid-19 symptoms because the current weather conditions can help the virus spread.
