In an important scientific data analysed by ICMR-NIE , it is revealed that city of Ahmedabad is prone to repeated bouts of dengue decease.
Aedes aegypti mosquitoes which is causing Dengue decease, is found to be having 0.75 to 1.75 density in Ahmedabad city with Gota leading and Shahpur, Shahibaug and Sabarmati immediately following. Paldi, Thaltej and Jodhpur come next.
As per the research carried out with the help of the Kriging Technique and using the data between January 2014 to January 2018, found that in 85% areas in Gujarat, the dengue incidence rate was between 29 to 54. The Kriging Technique is used for drawing the heat map across a geographical area over a period.
By using a method known as the Kulldorff Space Time Scan Statistics, the scientists have pointed out eight clusters of districts where occurrence of dengue is prominent. Three north easter states, Arunachal Pradesh , Nagaland and Manipur and Nagpur, Jhunjhunu, Gadag and Dakshin Kanada, Kanchipuram and Shivaganga, Ernakulam and Malda in Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Tamil Nādu, Kerala and West Bengal respectively form the major clusters have higher occurrence rate of dengue outbreak
The institutions own journal in the September issue noted that out of 2.11 lakh cases analysed for IgM antibodies or NS1 antigen against the dengue virus, 28.4% were positive for the antibodies.
