JP Nadda, the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, claimed on Sunday that his party will win more than 200 of the 230 Assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh, where elections are scheduled to take place at the end of the year.
He is at the state capital to lay the foundation for a BJP office. “The warm welcome accorded to me by the spirited BJP cadre shows we are going to more than 200 Assembly seats in MP,” he said.
A hung Assembly resulted from the 2018 elections in Madhya Pradesh, with the BJP winning 109 seats and the Congress winning 114 of the 230 seats in the House.
Nonetheless, the BJP received 41.02% of the votes to the Congress’s 40.89%.
In March 2020, when MLAs loyal to Jyotiraditya Scindia rebelled, the Congress formed a cabinet under Kamal Nath, which was overthrown, allowing Shivraj Singh Chouhan to take over as chief minister once again.
