Not only did bluff-master Kiranbhai Patel smooth talk his way into fooling Jammu and Kashmir government officials, Amdavadis in the know also share of his arm-twisting, name dropping and extortion tactics.
Based on several reports received unofficially, the city police have now started investigations into misdeeds of the conman. Top officials of the city crime branch shared how one case in baffled them most.
On assured requests of anonymity, a top cop briefed how Patel stands charged with “allegedly snatching a bungalow in Ahmedabad from its owner.” Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir police have also started investigation into how Patel got Z Plus security, given that the process requires a lot of prior documentation.
According to the case filed, Patel met the owner of the house, located behind ITC Narmada, and promised help in selling it off “at a much higher price. Once the deal was struck, Patel convinced him to vacate the premises and live elsewhere so that the house could be renovated,” cops said.
Post renovation, Patel started living in the house under the pretext that somebody ought to be present to show it to the prospective buyers. The owner learnt of this much later. The owner filed an application with the police about illegal occupation of his house but did not pursue it.
“We have now officially called the owner to get his statement recorded. We are also looking into various other alleged misdeeds of Patel in the city.”
