Narpat Singh Rajpurohit, 34, of Rajasthan’s Barmer, has set a Guinness World Record for the longest bicycle journey in a single country by covering a distance of 30,121.64 km (18716.71 miles).
According to the official website of the Guinness World Record, Narpat started his journey at Jammu airport on 27 January 2019 and completed it on 20 April 2022 in Jaipur, Rajasthan. He covered a total of 29 states during his journey.
“During his cycling trip, Narpat had to walk in heavy rain in many places, such as mountainous areas. Narpat went ‘on the path of the forest’,” said the official statement.
Speaking about his journey, Rajpurohit mentioned that during the Covid-19 outbreak, he had to halt his journey in Tamil Nadu for nearly four months, and he often had to eat only biscuits. During his journey, he reportedly planted 93,000 saplings.
Throughout his journey, he stopped at various educational institutions and railway stations to distributing saplings. He also held public gatherings to educate people on the importance of environmental preservation.
