The French Navy (FN) ships FS Dixmude, an amphibious assault ship of the Mistral-class, and FS La Fayette, a frigate of the La Fayette class, took part in a maritime partnership exercise (MPX) with the indigenously built guided missile frigate of the Indian Navy, INS Sahyadri, in the Arabian Sea.
The partnership exercise took place from March 10 to March 11. The exercise saw a wide range of maritime evolutions, including cross-deck landings, boarding drills, and seamanship evolutions, according to the Ministry of Defence.
The exercise’s flawless execution confirmed the two navies’ high level of collaboration and interoperability.
“INS Sahyadri is fitted with state-of-the art weapons and sensors, which makes her capable of detecting and neutralising air, surface and sub-surface threats. The ship is a part of the Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet based at Visakhapatnam, under the operational control of FOCinC (East),” said the Defence Ministry statement.
