The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has called for a demonstration against the arrest of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia by the CBI in the excise policy case, therefore, security was increased at the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg on Monday morning.
According to a senior police officer, DDU Marg in central Delhi, where both the BJP and the AAP have its offices, has been heavily secured.
It’s also possible that daytime traffic in the city’s centre will be impacted. Gopal Rai, a senior AAP leader, said the group will observe the day as a “black day” and stage demonstrations against Sisodia’s arrest across the nation. We will protest at the BJP national office in Delhi at noon, he said.
On Sunday, the CBI detained Sisodia in connection with allegations of corruption in the excise regime for the sale of alcohol, which has since been repealed.
One of the most visible steps taken against an opposition politician, Sisodia’s detention follows that of Satyendar Jain, Delhi’s former health minister, in June of last year. The AAP claims that both ministers have successfully transformed Delhi’s educational and healthcare systems, which has boosted the party’s popularity and continuing electoral success.
Police detained on Sunday 50 protesters, near the CBI office, including AAP MP Sanjay Singh and minister Gopal Rai.
