Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said that Nitish Kumar, the Chief minister of Bihar, had abandoned the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and joined forces with the Congress and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) to fulfil his “every three years” goal to become Prime minister.
Speaking at a rally in Lauria, West Champaran district, the senior BJP leader declared that Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the RJD, had been given the go-ahead to become the next Chief minister by the head of the Janata Dal-United (JDU), and asserted that he make that announcement as soon as possible.
Earlier, Shah accused Kumar of bringing “jungle raj” to Bihar, which he previously blamed on the previous Congress and RJD administration. He also claimed that the BJP was disgusted with the former ally’s flip-flops and that its “doors are closed forever.”
“After fighting his entire life, since the days of Jay Prakash Narayan, against the Congress and ‘jungle raj’, Nitish Kumar has allied with Lalu’s RJD and Sonia Gandhi’s Congress. He has become avsarwaadi (opportunist) from being vikaswaadi (pro-development) for his prime ministerial ambitions,” he said. “Enough of Aaya Ram, Gaya Ram, the BJP’s doors are closed forever for Nitish.”
The Union Home Minister remembered that, although the BJP had won a much larger share of seats in the most recent Assembly elections than the JD(U), Prime Minister Narendra Modi upheld his pledge to support Kumar for reelection.
Shah, who is widely regarded as the BJP’s principal strategist, said, “Nitish and Lalu cannot pull Bihar out of the vortex of backwardness. It is high time that the BJP formed its own government in the state with full majority. The tone can be set in the next Lok Sabha polls.”
Shah discussed daring actions like the surgical strike, the Balakot airstrike, the repeal of Article 370, and the banning of the Islamist group Popular Front of India in his roughly 30-minute speech.
