In the upcoming film Thunderbolts, Steven Yeun, a well-known Hollywood actor, will reportedly make his MCU debut.
According to media reports, the movie is centred on a group of Marvel supervillains and appears to be Marvel’s effort at creating its own “Suicide Squad”. It was formally unveiled during Disney’s D23 Expo in 2022.
Yeun, who is well-recognised for his roles in ‘The Walking Dead’ television series and films like Okja, Minari, and Nope, will have a significant part in the upcoming Marvel Studios movie, with potential for additional involvement in other connected projects.
He joins an ensemble cast that includes Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, David Harbour as the Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Wyatt Russell as John Walker, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, and Hannah John-Kamen as Yelena Belova as Yelena Belova.
According to a report from the previous year, Harrison Ford, who starred in the Indiana Jones films, would be joining the cast of Thunderbolts and taking over for the late William Hurt in the role of Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross. But before that, he will make a debut as the brash General in Captain America: New World Order, the penultimate film in the MCU’s Phase 5 that will be released on May 3, 2024. The last entry in the phase is Thunderbolts.
A group of villains, anti-heroes, and former bad guys known as the Thunderbolts exists in the Marvel comics. Yeun’s next big screen appearance will be in Robert Pattinson’s Mickey 17, from Oscar-winning director Bong Joon-ho.
