The “revenge travel” seems yet to peak. With the pandemic having taught many lessons in enjoying the “here and now,” Amdavadis are sparing no chance to live up any given opportunity. A case in point being that despite Holi being a mid-week occurrence, March 7-March 8, tour operators report a packed booking schedule. Favourite destinations include Goa, Mount Abu, Udaipur and Kumbhalgarh.
“As compared to Holi 2022, there has been a 40 percent increase in bookings. Last year, the Holi festival was on a weekend which led to heavy rush. This year, however, the motivation seems to be to escape the soaring mercury in Ahmedabad as much to enjoy,” shared Shreeram Patel, director, Unicorn Travels.
Patel, who is also the national treasurer, Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), added: “Holi has always been a quick getaway for many, especially to get away from the rising heat of Ahmedabad.”
Likewise added Sailesh Agrawal, MD, Vanguard Holidays: “Popular destinations for Amdavadis are Udaipur, Mount Abu and Kumbhalgarh. These places are scenic, cooler and vegetarian food is readily available. Plus, travel time is minimal to these destinations as compared with travelling to Kashmir or Kerala.”
Acknowledging that travel in in top gear post pandemic, Manish Sharma, chairman, TAFI Gujarat, noted: “People have always preferred a short recharge travel during this season. They come back all refreshed for the school exams and financial year-ending paperwork.”
