Ahmedabad International Airport continues to provide better infrastructure and surprise passengers by rapidly expanding existing infrastructure. While passenger traffic is rapidly increasing, several infrastructure developments are kept open for passengers to ensure a better passenger experience, and many are still ongoing. On Thursday, the Ahmedabad airport opened a new Security Hold Area (SHA) for the domestic terminal, more than doubling the existing space capacity.
The new SHA area on the domestic terminal ground floor is twice the size of the previous SHA area. Two new bus boarding gates have recently been installed and are linked to the new SHA. In addition, the security hold area is approximately 1400 SQM in size and features four e-gates for faster passenger verification, a larger area for security checks with additional X-ray machines, and metal detector doors.
The queuing area will be increased by nearly 50% to facilitate smoother passenger movement. Furthermore, after the security check, the seating capacity increased fourfold, from 160 to 648. The improved infrastructure and expanded space will increase efficiency and allow for multiple departures from the domestic terminal.
Several services and new infrastructure to enhance capacity have been introduced over the last two years at Ahmedabad airport.
Gujarat, recognized as a leading industrialized state, has been poised in the national growth narrative. Ahmedabad, strategically located, has taken centre stage with its indomitable spirit of enterprise and is the pride of rapid and inclusive development over the last two decades.
The goal of infrastructure development at Ahmedabad International Airport is to create a viable and sustainable business ecosystem, expand the airport’s catchment area, build airport infrastructure in accordance with projected traffic, ensure safe and efficient airport operations, and provide a pleasant experience for our passengers.
