The extent to which parental aspirations can drive Indian children to achieving professional targets, is well known of. However, this 24-year-old woman’s wish had more to do with fulfilling her father’s last wish of seeing her become a police officer.
Despite a promising road opening up in the legal sphere, she sent back home, fake exam results and a letter of appointment from the Gujarat Police, when her father was alive.
However, her luck ran out when she tried to push it further at the Karai Police Academy in Gandhinagar, Monday. Her documents were all handwritten and the so the guard called an officer for further verification for entry.
“Not only were the papers fake, she had also forged DGP Vikas Sahay’s signature on the joining letter. Her papers was based on having cleared the PSI exam held in June 2022,” shared a police officer at the Dabhoda PS, where the FIR was lodged.
On interrogation the resident of Milan Park Society in Vejalpur confessed to having forged the papers. “She broke down stating that her father, was a pandit whose livelihood was earned by performing simple ceremonies. He really wanted to see her don the uniform. In fact, he even accompanied her to the exam centre. However, she says, she evaded the exam by hiding somewhere in the centre while her father stood guard out,” added the official.
She also narrated how “just to make her parents happy,” she devised the entire plan to send home fake and forged letters of appointment.
