The Mumbai Central-Gandhinagar Vande Bharat Express, the third such train introduced in the country, will see continuous metal fencing worth Rs 245 crore. This will help curb the incidents of cattle runover cases.
The metal barrier fencing will cover a length of about 622 km, between Ahmedabad and Mumbai and will be undertaken at an approximate cost of Rs 245.26 crore. All the eight tenders have been awarded and work is progressing in full swing. The work is expected to be completed by the end of May 2023.
The Mumbai Central-Gandhinagar Vande Bharat Express was introduced on September 30, 2022. It connects Gandhinagar and Mumbai — with halts at Borivali, Vapi, Surat, Vadodara and Ahmedabad.
