Preparation and focus are the attributes required to sail through exams. But what should candidates do when they’re not even aware of the dates of the tests? That’s the dilemma for many candidates who are awaiting an announcement from the Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC). The GPSC is yet to announce the new year’s calendar for the exams conducted by the state, leaving candidates confused and disillusioned.
A calendar was released by the GPSC on September 21, 2022, specifying the date of the written exams. According to the calendar, three exams were to be announced for the term 2021-22 and as many for 2022-23.
In the 2021-22 announcement, examinations were to be held for:
- Gujarat Administrative Service Class-1
- Gujarati Mulki Service Class-1-2
- Gujarat Municipal Chief Officer Service Class-II
- Executive Engineer (Mechanical) Class-1
- Accounts Officer Class-II
The announcement of the recruitment examination for 2022-2023 was shown in the calendar in March, April, and May.
Strangely, the assistant civil engineer — class-2 recruitment examination (public number 15/2022-23) to be held on January 29, 2023, has been postponed. A new date has not been announced yet.
Earlier, even the written examination of the assistant engineer that was supposed to be held on December 5, 2021, had been postponed.
“After the term of GPSC chairman Dinesh Dasa ended, the calendar was announced once but the examinations were not held as per schedule,” Rohit Mali, one of the candidates told the Vibes of India.
What’s more, there has been no announcement of the calendar in the past year. The Vibes of India tried contacting GPSC officials for a reaction. There has been no response at the time of publishing this article.
