Thailand will probably impose a tourist charge on foreign visitors. Thailand is making every attempt to increase tourism in the nation and entice more visitors. This is done with the notion of always improving its travel itineraries as per the recent developments.
According to reports, the nation will start charging foreign visitors who want to enter the country a THB 300 (INR 734) tourist charge starting in June. The funds gathered would be put to use improving tourist attractions and helping injured tourists.
One of Thailand’s most significant economic sectors, tourism made up about 12% of the country’s GDP prior to the pandemic. According to reports, the tourist fees are not only used to enhance the nation’s tourism destinations but also to assist those tourists who are in need.
In addition, foreigners with work permits and border crossings won’t be charged any taxes, said Tourism Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, who also mentioned that Thailand anticipates 25 million tourists arriving this year.
Do keep in mind, though, that the suggestion was first taken into consideration last year and needs cabinet approval. Additionally, according to Phiphat, the amount spent on tourism is predicted to be at least 2.38 trillion baht this year. Thailand received close to 40 million visitors in 2019.
