Perhaps the search for the next 007 is over.
A British man, in his 30s: these are the minimum requirements for the next James Bond, described as a “reinvention” by producer Barbara Broccoli.
Daniel Craig, who played the iconic character from 2006 to 2021, is set to be replaced by another English actor, reportedly Tenet actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson to play the leading role.
Aaron reportedly secretly auditioned for the role last September, and Bond franchise producer Barbara Broccoli loved him. Let’s find out more about the man who will play the next 007.
Aaron began acting at the age of six. He marked his debut alongside British actor Rufus Sewell in a London production of Macbeth.
Aaron appeared in several Hollywood films as a child artist, including The Apocalypse, Tom & Thomas, Shanghai Knights, and The Illusionist.
Aaron won his first award (the Empire Award for Best Newcomer) in 2009 for his performance as John Lennon in Sam Taylor-Wood’s biographical drama Nowhere Boy.
It was a role where Daniel Day Lewis gave him a great tip.
Aaron said once that “Young Lennon obviously wasn’t singing the songs by The Beatles, so who were his influences? Who was he listening to? Daniel Day-Lewis said that in order to find your characters, you have to sniff around. You have to find their scent.”
Age ain’t nothin’ but just a number to Aaron and Sam Taylor-Johnson.
On the set of the John Lennon biopic Nowhere Boy, Aaron Taylor-Johnson met Sam Taylor-Wood (as she was then known), where Sam was his director.
At the time, she was 42 and Aaron was reportedly 18 to 19 years old.
They have two daughters, Wylda Rae (born in 2010) and Romy Hero (2012).
The 32-year-old got his big break in the superhero smash hit Kick-Ass in 2010. Since then, there has been no turning back.
Aaron has since appeared in blockbuster movies such as Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Godzilla, and Avengers: Age of Ultron, with his most notable role being Quicksilver in Avengers.
Taylor-Johnson’s performance in Nocturnal Animals earned him his first Golden Globe Award in the Best Supporting Actor category in 2017.
Aaron’s most recent film was David Leitch’s action comedy Bullet Train, in which he co-starred with Brad Pitt. Aaron to be seen in the upcoming films Kraven: The Hunter and The Fall Guy.
Aaron spilled the beans in an interview, saying he is happy to be on Brad’s ‘good list,’ as opposed to the ‘shit list,’ which the actor has of people he never wants to work with again.
Despite several actors having discussions with Bond producers, only Aaron ended up auditioning for Ian Fleming’s spy.
