On New Year’s Eve, a Blinkit user from Bengaluru placed an order of Rs 28,962 on the platform. The app’s CEO and co-founder, Albinder Dhindsa, made the announcement on Twitter. “Biggest party order today is worth ₹ 28,962 by someone from Bengaluru. Will this be the highest or?” he asked on Twitter.
The order, according to Dhindsa, included “plenty of chips, tonic water, and a Boat speaker.” That order needed to be delivered by two delivery people. He has been tweeting frequently about the number and types of orders placed through the online food store. He mentioned that one out of every three orders in Delhi yesterday on Blinkit included a soft drink in one of the tweets.
“41 packets of chips are being added to the cart on Blinkit every second currently,” Dhindsa continued. The top executive further disclosed that yesterday, more than 1.5 lakh lemons had already been supplied via the app. “150,000+ nimboos already delivered. Tequila time it is!” said Dhindsa.
Albinder Dhindsa volunteered to fulfil certain orders for the grocery delivery app, similar to Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal. More than 30 Indian cities already use Blinkit, which Zomato purchased in June 2022. As individuals planned parties and get-togethers to usher in the new year, both platforms had a significant rise in orders on December 31.
