The verdict in the Gujarat Assembly elections has sprung a huge surprise in the form of Dharmendrasinh Vaghela from Vaghodia seat. Madhu Shrivastav, the BJP MLA on this seat since 2002, was denied ticket this time around. He was vocal about his exclusion and immediately announced his candidature as an independent.
Now, another independent candidate, Dharmendrasinh Vaghela, has sprung a surprise on Shrivastav and BJP candidate Ashwin Patel. Vaghela got 58,960 votes with a 42.61% vote share. Shrivastav has to contend with only 9,431 votes which is less than 7% of the total votes. The BJP candidate came in second with 51,817 votes.
Dharmendrasinh Vaghela has a transport business and has declared assets worth Rs 111 crore.
